August Blanke was co-founder and first managing director of the Nord-West-Schuhwaren-Einkaufsgenossenschaft, a shoe purchasing cooperative, and developed it into one of the largest purchasing groups in Germany – thus also laying the foundation for today's ANWR GROUP.
